3-26-2014   Newshound Guru Kaperoni   they did not have the Article IV Consultation yesterday as the CBI stated they were going to have.   Now, we can look at why a staff visit? I have my thoughts that the CBI went there with intent to ask for permission to move to Article VIII (as part of Maliki's "initiative" to open the economy). This staff meeting clearly stated that the CBI is not in compliance and in fact reprimanded them for continued government interference. As well, it is clear that the CBI has not fully liberalized the foreign exchange market (per last year's Article IV Consultation) and the spread is still more than 2%...it is clear the CBI is not going to be allowed to move out of Article XIV before the elections. Sorry...but that not happening for a while.
